Ingredients: 

500 grams giant white beans

¼ cup oil

2 onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup tomato puree

3 Tbs vinegar

4 Tbs honey

2 cups hot water

1 large bay leaf

3 whole cloves

½ cup chopped parsley

Salt and pepper

Directions:

1.  Soak beans overnight.

2.  Discard water and put beans in a pot, cover with water.  Bring to a boil and then simmer for approximately 2 hours. Drain.  

Prepare sauce:       Preheat oven to 350oF (180oC)

1. Heat oil in a saucepan and sauté onions until soft.  Add the garlic and sauté one minute. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

2. Mix the sauce with the beans and pour them into a shallow baking  pan.  Bake approximately one hour until most of the liquid has been absorbed.  If browning too quickly cover with aluminum foil for last half hour.

3. Allow to cool.  Serve at room temperature.
